Talk of the lab

Joshua joins the lab!

Alex and Cathy's Paper is published in JITC!
Congratulations to Alex and Cathy for their paper in The Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer! This work shows stimulation of both CAR molecules in a CD19xCD22 bicistronic CAR construct impacts downstream signaling events within the CAR T-cell and subsequently drives a more efficacious in vivo response with evidence of decreased exhaustion in persisting cells.

Taylor joins the Lab!

Angie is a PhD Candidate!
Congrats to Angie on becoming a PhD candidate! A major milestone and well deserved, excited for what’s ahead! 🎉🧬

Thank you to the V Foundation!
The Kohler Lab thanks the V Foundation for support through the Translational Grant, which funds our work on the development and testing of out novel CAR T cells against human and canine osteosarcoma.

Angie gives her first Research in Progress talk!

Angie meets Jin!!!
Angie celebrated passing comps by flying to New York to meet BTS Jin!

Cancer Center highlights the ALA-CART!

Cathy's paper is published in Cancer Cell!
This work from the Kohler Lab introduces a novel CAR T cell platform, ALA-CART (Adjunctive LAT-Activating CAR-T cells), designed to overcome a signaling deficiency in LAT observed in conventional CAR T cells. By restoring LAT signaling, ALA-CART cells exhibit enhanced antigen sensitivity, leading to improved efficacy and long-term persistence.

Haley and Cathy receive awards at the 2024 Cancer Center Retreat!
Congratulations to Haley for presenting her work on AML CAR T cells, and to Cathy for sharing her research on ALA-CART cells. Great work representing the lab!

Angie joins the Lab!

Taylor Swift Concert!!!
The Kohler Lab Swifities attend the concert of a lifetime!

Ashley's Paper is published in Nature Comm!
Congratulations to Ashley for her paper in Nature Communications! This work demonstrates that deleting or silencing MCJ in CD8 CAR T-cells enhances their metabolism, leading to enhanced killing and in vivo efficacy.

Thank you to the American Society of Hematology (ASH)!
The Kohler Lab thanks the American Society of Hematology for support through the ASH Scholar Award, which funds our work on LAT signaling, antigen sensitivity, and persistence.

Cathy receives AAI award at the 2023 Colorado Immunology Conference
Congrats to Cathy!

Thank you to the Cancer League of Colorado!
Congrats to Cathy on recieving the CLC grant. This work will examine the metabolic fitness of the Adjunctive LAT-activating CAR T cell against Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Thank you to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation!
Congratulations to Cathy for being selected as a 2023 Young Investigator for her project titled: A Novel Adjunctive LAT-Activating CART (ALA-CART) Cell Platform for the Treatment of Acute Leukemias. This work focuses on defining differences in CD4 and CD8 ALA-CART cells.

Kaylyn joins the Kohler Lab!

Haley joins the Kohler Lab!

The Kohler Lab is awarded the Gates Grubstake Fund!
Grubstake funding will be used to generate the safety data and establish the manufacturing workflows at the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility that will be necessary to transition this work to future clinical trials.

Alex is awarded the NCI Immunotherapy Fellowship!
Congrats to Alex!

Cathy receives Margaret Foti Foundation Scholar-in-Training Award
Congratulations to Cathy for being selected to receive a Margaret Foti Foundation Scholar-in-Training Award to attend the Annual AACR Meeting!
